The greenest Clio ever!

Development of several of Renault’s electric vehicles continues relentlessly ahead of their launch in 2011. Meanwhile, in the pursuit of some purer air before then, Renault has announced its cleanest production car yet with the new dCi 86-powered Clio, emitting just 98 grams of CO2 per kilometre. Set to be available in three- and five-door guise, the new versions offer not just reduced guilt driving, but also the promise of lower fuel consumption. Clio dCi 86 Renault eco² will be available at Hemming soon!

In a typical year, Hemming Automotive has to dispose of:

• 2,500 waste oil filters
• 2 tonnes of waste lead acid batteries
• 820 litres of waste antifreeze
• 1,000 waste car tyres
• 400 waste aerosols
• 615 litres of contaminated rags and granules
• 12,500 litres of waste oil

All of this is classed as hazardous and requires Hemming to invest in Credential’s total waste management programme which collects and recycles. For example, car tyres are shredded, frozen, then broken up to produce rubber that can be used in children’s playgrounds and running tracks, while waste oil is recycled to be reused as fuel. Oil filters are cleaned and shredded to re-supply the UK’s aluminium market. Richard Hemming added: “At Hemming Chichester, these steps have been taken to not only protect the local environment, but to ensure that Hemming customers can be certain that, in an increasingly fragile and environmentally threatened ecosystem, we already understand the need to act in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner to protect not only the customers of today, but those of tomorrow”.

“My staff and I are passionate about ensuring that we don’t waste energy or any other resource. We make sure that lights and computers are off when not in use, and have a selection of what Renault proudly calls its ‘eco2’ cars, which means they meet three strict environmental criteria for the life of the vehicle”.
